China is the third largest country in the world and home to a fifth of the world's population. Closed to travelers for 30 years it is now moving on from its Maoist past offering visitors a stunning mix of bustling cites and epic landscapes. Traveler Justine Shapiro visits the southwest of China, starting in the Guangxi province. After a visit to the wondrous limestone pinnacle of Moon Hill, and a stay in Lung Ga, she makes her way to the Sichuan province and the bustling city of Chengdu. Her final destination is Songpan where she ends her journey with a horse trek in the breathtaking Ximending Mountains. Along the Way -
