Discovery: Elementary Communicative Chinese 1 targets beginner level Chinese learners, It includes audio demonstrations and 20 lessons. Lessons are arranged into six chapters: dining, living, commute, travel, social and shopping, each chapter consists of 2-4 lessons. The storyline of the lessons are based on a French family living in Beijing using beginner level Chinese needed for everyday living. Course materials contain language, activity and culture; Language focuses in connecting phrases and sentences to form paragraphs. Activity focuses in social interactions illustrated by group activities. 《发现：交际汉语入门（上）》面向汉语入门级水平的外国学生，包括语音篇和20课正课文。围绕"饮食"、"住宿"、"交通"、"游玩"、"社交"、"购物"六个单元，每个单元集中安排2-4课。课文以一个法国家庭一家三口在北京的生活为主题，展现了初到中国的外国人生存所需的实用交际汉语。教材的主要内容有语言、活动、文化三个部分。语言侧重于展示，按照听-说的路径，沿词--句--段的拓展方式展现语言素材；活动侧重于交际运用，多设计为两人活动和小组活动；文化侧重于介绍，借助大量实物、实景照片描述和说明中国风土人情，让学生体验中国文化。
