The Collection of Chinese Short Stories series consists of stories tailored for beginners of Chinese language learning worldwide, with English explanations for new words. The series contains four books and each book includes 20 stories with illustrations. The stories can be categorized into humorous stories, celebrity anecdotes, philosophical stories, love stories, etc., all of which are fun to read. Each book contains no more than 1200 vocabulary words, and each story is 450 to 600 characters in length with only five to ten new words. At the end of each story, there is also pinyin for the full text and exercises to facilitate learners’ understanding.

汉语短文阅读系列丛书是为世界各国汉语学习者编写的、有英文注释的汉语初级读物。全套书一共4本，每本书有20个故事，配有插图。故事的题材包括幽默笑话、名人轶事、哲理故事、爱情故事等。本系列读物的词汇量控制在1200词以内；每个故事的长度限定在450—600字左右，生词严格控制在5—10个之间；故事正文后附有汉语拼音课文及练习题。
