夜晚的森林不全是黑漆漆的，本书以黑、褐色表现夜色，可爱的夜行动物穿梭其间，森林的草木在月光下透出碧绿，看起来沁凉怡人。夜深了，小猫头鹰问妈妈：“夜晚是怎么结束的？”，妈妈说：“月亮和星星慢慢看不见了，蜘蛛网变成银色的丝线，露珠在叶子和青草上闪闪发光……”画面中，天色渐渐由暗转明，孩子将会发现夜晚和白天交替时奇妙的颜色变化。
